Economic Crisis: Rice Shortage in Oregon

Is your town experiencing this so called “rice shortage” crisis? If so, Oregon is one of it. Started last week most people rushing and buying more rice since they heard that there is a rice shortage coming. And yesterday I went to all bulk stores that carried rice but unfortunately they were all out. So I began to think maybe it is true that Oregon will encounter this “rice shortage”. Lately I ordered rice at WinCo Foods, and said that I will get as much as they have, but they only have one bag. The good thing is they saved it for me.

But I did start wandering, why we have “rice shortage”? And how it happened? Did somebody hide the rice? There is no way people can do that. Anyway, as what I’ve heard from the news and all the gossips everywhere especially in the stores that most of our rice was sent to China, which they needs rice right now and their family here in Oregon trying to provide rice for them. That’s why Oregon encountered this economical imbalance with rice. In fact Costco limits one bag of rice per person. And I worried about my co- rice lover! I knew that Chinese, Filipino, Mexican and etc. eats rice with their meals. So, folks let saved rice now!

Perfect Picture

Mickael is already 7 months old last April 20. He showed a lot of different characteristics everyday. Earlier today we went to the store with Mickael and I dressed him up with his Pooh outfit. He looks good on it! But for sure that cloth is just a bonus. I took a perfect picture from him and I think this is so cute! And I’m planning to upload this picture for a contest of most beautiful baby photo on TV. Here’s his best picture ever!

What can you tell? Isn’t he adorable?

The Origin of Banana chips

I realized that some American who loves banana chips didn’t have a chance to see a real banana plant. Here’s a picture that shows the origin of banana chips, for where it comes from "Banana Tree".

Well, back of my days in Philippines I used to ask my mom in the province that I was coming home from the city and I missed banana with salted fish (bagoong). And she hurriedly cooked it for me! I really love boiled banana too.
Anyways, banana chips are an all natural product prepared from the sound fruit of the Saba variety. The bananas are picked in their mature green stage, peeled, washed, sliced and then fried in fresh refined coconut oil.
The country of origin is Philippines, the supply of banana’s is all year round.
And America is one of the importing country for banana.

Nokia 6680: My Cellphone Forever!

I am typically “stick to one” person. I love the things that I already have. Actually I got my cell phone from Philippines, it was brand new and never been used. I got this last 2005 but the look is still brand new.

It was Php. 18,000.00 that time. It was expensive but affordable for me. Of course, what is single life? I got the control of everything. Actually having cell phone in Philippines is just very common or natural. Anyone can have it as long as you can buy a load, e-load or pasaload. But here in USA, there’s a big difference you need to apply in a certain wireless company in order for you to have a cell phone. For short it will take a long process. Upon choosing my wireless provider I pick the one that will accept my cell phone. And they just change my sim card and I awe them monthly. What makes me happy about this is, I am still using the things that I had even though there are lots of latest cell phones but I just love my Nokia6680.

Asparagus: My baby’s 1st favorite vegetable.

Once in a while, we will have a whole family dinner and it’s always comes with asparagus. I’d tried to feed it to my 5months old baby Mickael, and we were all surprised how much he sucked and chewed it. Oh man! He really loves asparagus. And he will end up screaming if there’s no more asparagus for him.

Here’s one of his stolen picture while he was eating his first vegetable “asparagus”!

And I do believe that good nutrition and a balanced diet help your kids grow up healthy. Serve a variety of healthy foods and snacks. Be a role model by eating healthy yourself. To all mommies try to feed your babies with a healthy food. Start with vegetables.

Mood Swing, Not FUN!

I had a “mood swing” since last Monday. It was triggered by a phone call from my husbands’ ex-wife. That day, Monday morning before my hubby go to his work I asked and checked if he had his cell phone with him and then gave him goodbye kissed. Suddenly his cell phone rang “ring, ring, and ring”“Hello“! Guest who was calling? And my hubby walk away and they’re talking some kind of appointment “For whom?” and what for? I was just waiting for him to tell me about their conversation yesterday, last night, today, or tomorrow. Not sure if he’ll tell me anything about it. So far, I am not happy because I never felt secured for his being secretive and not being open and honest to me.

Sometimes, I thought I was losing my mind!

I need someone to share their brilliant thoughts and advice. Please leave your comments. Thanks!
